I usually don’t respond to sweeping pronouncements. However, the low engagement on Medium plus, more importantly, the Churchillian nature of denouncing India and her future — compel me. I do, though, thank you for reading the article, and commenting.
If it is not the upper caste Hindoos then it is the Thugs, if it isn’t the unruly Pathans in the North West then it is the Animists in the forests.
The modern India, and the ancient one, have been built on the backs, and hard work, of every Indian. The government isn’t the people and ultimately, we all still trust the logic of our democracy to soften the most congenital of prejudices — in us and in our leaders. Do we periodically fail? Absolutely. In that, we are condemned like all other peoples.
However, if there is one thing we revel in — it is defying doom and fear mongers who have existed for centuries in the West. Unable, and unwilling, to accept that there are some experiments, nations and religions which don’t fit into the neat little buckets put forth as explanations.
In another 72 years you will be just as wrong as you are today, and join the ranks of Churchill, Kissinger and countless others, simply because you still miss the point of it all.
